Office teamed with the U.S. Army Corp of Engineers to produce a survey
of the Cape Fear and Northeast Cape Fear Rivers from its mouth at Old
Inlet to just past Wilmington. Now public for the first time, this remarkable
book is probably the most complete source of concise information on
everything historical along the Cape Fear. Plantations, forts, lighthouses,
ferry crossings, shipwrecks, shipyards - along with 60 maps dating from
1585 (including twenty locator maps showing where all of these historic
finds are located) and more than 250 other images.
Curriculum Applications: 4th & 8th Grade Social Studies.
