Prisoners in a World War II prisoner of war camp sit behind a fence right across the street from an elementary school for black children in Wilmington, NC. Word is passed to the teachers that a prisoner escape is imminent, but the teachers don't want to alarm the students. They devise a unique game of hide and seek. Based on fact, this hilarious, yet thoughtful one-act play creates opportunities for discussions of freedom, cultural differences, and World War II recollections.
