MARC Record Services for your convenience. We
hope this description will provide you with the
information you need about our catalog cards,
MicroLIF records, and barcode labels. We furnish
records and/or card kits for titles listed in
this catalog unless otherwise noted. Catalog card
kits or data disk kits will be shipped to you
with your order unless you specify otherwise. The
diskette records contain all information on our
catalog cards—Dewey number, main entry, full
title, publisher and copyright, physical
description, summary, appropriate Sears subject
headings, LC catalog number, ISBN(s), edition
statement, series, index statement, bibliography
statement, and added entries such as joint
authors, illustrators, and titles traced
differently—and, since Medialog catalog
cards and MicroLIF records are taken from the
same database, information on the diskette and
our catalog cards "matches"—no
discrepencies between the Dewey number in the
card catalog and the Dewey number in the
circulation system. Other MARC defined fields,
such as shortened title, language note, place of
publication, geographic area code, and fixed
length data elements are also included in
diskette records.
We are pleased with the professional quality
of the Medialog MicroLIF records and barcodes,
which have been readily accepted by user
librarians. MicroLIF records are appropriate for
libraries using the computer for circulation
purposes only, or for the library that has
eliminated the card file and is using computers
for reference as well as circulation—the
"on-line catalog." The user librarian
simply pulls from the diskette into their system
the information, or fields, they wish to use.
Prices on the disk for some of the items may or
may not be current depending on when they were
entered into Medialog's system.
Catalog Card Kits: Our professionally
prepared catalog card kits are $.75 each or free on orders
over $500. The information on the cards may be used by libraries
preparing in-house barcoding.
Data Disk Kit ~ $25.00:
Diskette with MicroLIF records, barcode/inventory
and spine labels with transparent protectors,
plus shelf list cards for each title ordered are
included in this data kit. Optional
"Accelerated Reader" labels included.
Just complete the "Service for Library
Software Systems" form for each order.
